JAMES WILKERSON

Founding Director & CEO

James Wilkerson is a native of New Albany, Indiana. He holds his master’s degree from Bellarmine University. He also holds a Bachelors in English and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville. While in law school, Wilkerson founded Greek Law as a student government project that developed sexual assault education directed specifically for fraternity and sorority members. Wilkerson would combine his personal experiences as a fraternity man, with elements of the law to deliver lectures that were not only educational, but also captivating, entertaining and practical. Greek Law has won several awards including the UofL’s Spirit of Service award in 2018. The program has since evolved into a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.

In 2020, Wilkerson began writing for the online legal journal, “I Taught the Law”. His column, “The Title IX Guy” breaks down legal issues in the realm of sexual assault in layperson terms. He also writes a version of “The Title IX Guy” for the LEO Magazine in Louisville, focusing on rape culture and masculinity in a local lens. His lecture “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree” has been selected for inclusion in the April 2021 TedxBloomington event entitled “The Big Questions.” His first book, “The Title IX Guy: Several Short Essays on Rape Culture, Masculinity (the good kind and the bad kind) and Other Things We Totally Should Be Talking About”, is set for publication in late 2021.

Wilkerson currently serves as Indiana University Southeast’s Director of Staff Equity and Diversity as well as their Deputy Title IX officer. He is a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon board of advisors for the Omicron Sigma chapter in New Albany. He was also named on of Louisville Business First’s “20 People You Should Know in Law” in 2020.
